Yuki Tsunoda extended at AlphaTauri… is it really deserved?

AlphaTauri has announced the extension of Yuki Tsunoda for the 2023 season. After two years where he alternated between good and bad, this looks like a last chance contract for the Japanese.

Has Yuki Tsunoda reached a milestone?

There is with this Yuki tsunoda a little permanent frustration, that of always having the impression that the Japanese are light years away from what their intrinsic talent should allow them to do. We will not go so far as to get excited like Ross Brawn did after his first Grand Prix in Bahrain, in 2021, affirming then that Yuki was the “fastest rookie in years”. But the junior course of this pocket size and its pretty steering wheel shown in fits and starts F1 gives this unfortunate impression that there is (a lot!) left underfoot.
