Zanardi shines at the London Paralympic Games

It was at 16:10 p.m. this Wednesday that the Italian took the start of a new event on the Brands Hatch circuit, where he notably took a second place in International Formula 3000 on a Mugen Honda prepared by the Il Barone team Rampant in 1991. The former CART champion completed the 16 kilometers of the race in 24'50"52 to beat the German Norbert Mosandl by 27 seconds.

Victim of a terrible accident on the Lausitzring in 2001 while racing in CART, Alessandro Zanardi was amputated at knee height. Despite this twist of fate, the Italian never gave up and continued his career in motorsport thanks to cars adapted to his handicap. Winner three times in the world touring car championship with BMW between 2006 and 2009, Zanardi had set a new goal, that of winning a gold medal at the Paralympic Games.
