12 GT3s entered in the 8 Hours of Indianapolis

Covid-19 came close to overcoming the Intercontinental GT Challenge. If the 24 Hours of Spa will come out without too many problems, the 8 Hours of Indianapolis will have a meager field on October 4.

If 22 cars are entered, two more than in 2019, there are only 12 GT3s. Six will be in the running for the overall victory, compared to 16 in 2019. The significant travel restrictions put in place in the different countries explain many renunciations. The latest is called Gruppe M. The team based in Germany announced on Wednesday that it would not be able to come and will focus on the 2021 championship season.

However, seven manufacturers will be present. The K-Pax Racing Bentley, winner of the first round at Bathurst, will be one of the favorites in the hands of Jules Gounon, Jordan Pepper and Maxime Soulet. Facing it, we will find two BMWs from Walkenhorst Motorsports, entrusted to two very solid trios. Augusto Farfus and Nick Catsburg will notably be at the wheel of the No. 34 and Matin Tomczyk, Nicholas Yelloly and David Pittard will drive the No. 35.

The usual official Honda will obviously be there in the hands of Mario Farnbacher, Dane Cameron and Renger van der Zande. We will also find an official Audi which has not yet announced its drivers and a Ferrari. The brand, winner last year with the HubAuto Corsa, will this time trust the Vital Speed, which will field Trevor Baek, Jeff Westphal and Ryan Briscoe.

Leading the manufacturers' championship, Mercedes will be represented by three crews in Pro-AM in two teams, DXDT Racing and SunEnergy 1. Finally, Porsche will field a car in Pro-AM in the hands of Black Swan Racing. The rest of the cars consist of GT4s.

The complete list.
