Bathurst 12 Hours – Campbell takes Jaminet and Pilet to pole
The first round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) n’a pas réservé de surprise quant à l’identité du poleman aux 12 Heures de Bathurst (Australie). Ce samedi 1er février, le local de l’étape Matt Campbell a placé sa Porsche 911 GT3 R en haut des chronos du Shootout.

Matt Campbell is quite simply the outgoing winner of the event, and had already set the best time in the group qualifications earlier in the day. The Australian is associated with the Absolute Racing team with the “Frenchies” Mathieu Jaminet and Patrick Pilet, who thus have an excellent opportunity for victory in Oceania.
The starting grid will be colorful. The (rare) McLaren 720S GT3 of Alvaro Parente-Ben Barnicoat-Tom Blomqvist recorded the second time, ahead of the Mercedes-AMG from the formidable Raffaele Marciello-Maximilian Buhk-Felipe Fraga.
In fourth place, we will find “Godzilla”, the affectionate nickname given to the only Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 of the KCMG team entered (Imperatori-Liberati-Oliveira) after the withdrawal of the sister car due to an accident .
The defending team, EBM, is ranked fifth in the Shootout with star Craig Lowndes and the Earl Bamber-Laurens Vanthoor tandem. As for the other French people in the paddock, Jules Gounon (Bentley) will start 11th, Côme Ledogar (Aston Martin) 18th and Romain Dumas (Porsche) 25th.
