A successful return to competition for Sébastien Loeb. The Frenchman, back behind the wheel of a GT this weekend, finished in 2nd place in the 992 category during the 12H of Mugello (Italy), first round of the 24H Series.
Accompanied by Romain Dumas, Loïc Villiger, Laurent Misbach and Alexandre Mottet, the nine-time world champion WRC scored a podium for his first experience at Mugello, aboard the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup n°963 from the Orchid Racing Team.
In the 992 category, it was the Porsche n°903 – Red Ant Racing of the Belgian trio Yannick Redant – Ayrton Redant – Kobe de Breucker which won, which was already in the lead at the end of the first part of the race Saturday afternoon.
In the general classification, Team GP Elite represented by Lucas Groeneveld, Jesse van Kuijk, Dan van Kuijk and Max van Splunteren won the 12H of Mugello with the No. 911 Porsche 3 GT32 R. Leader on Saturday evening after the first part of the race, the Dutch quartet held control of the race for the remaining 5h30 of the event this Sunday.
The race ended under Code 60 (driving limited to 60 km/h), after the accident of the No. 90 Porsche of the E2P Racing team in the pit straight, around thirty minutes from arrival, trapped by the arrival of the rain. The race management has chosen to maintain the event under Code 60 until the checkered flag.
