24 Hours of Spa – Audi and Team WRT accelerate in pre-qualifying

Following on the heels of the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT29 – Montaplast by Land in free practice, the pre-qualifying session for the 24 Hours of Spa, counting for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and the Intercontinental GT Challenge saw an R8 set the best time.

Alex Riberas, teammate of Dries Vanthoor and Christopher Mies on the n°1 – Team WRT, offered himself the first time under 2'20" since the start of the Belgian runs in 2'19 "758. The Spaniard precedes Christopher Haase, lined up in the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT25 – Saintéloc Racing with Markus Winkelhock and Frédéric Vervisch, by 181 thousandths.

THEAston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 n°62 – R-Motorsport by Martin – Baumann – Kirchhöfer follows in sixth position ahead of first Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°84 – Team Mann Filter by Paffett – van der Zande – Mortara, the first BMW M6 GT3 n°34 – Walkenhorst Motorsport by Krognes – Eng – Blomqvist, the first Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 n°23 – RJN de Ordóñez – Parry – Buncombe and the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT29 – Montaplast by Land of the van der Linde brothers and Jeffrey Schmidt.

The session was interrupted by a red flag just over a minute from the end after the #3 Lamborghini Huracan GT18 – Antonelli Motorsport stopped at the side of the track. The No. 3 Mercedes-AMG GT6 – Black Falcon, damaged during free practice, did not run.
