The hospital in Siena (Italy) communicated on Monday the latest health report concerning Alessandro Zanardi, victim of a serious road accident on Friday June 19.

Alessandro Zanardi remains in worrying condition

This Monday, June 21 at noon, the Santa Maria elle Scotte hospital in Siena broadcast a new health report regarding Alessandro Zanardi. The Italian driver, victim of a serious road accident when he was out on a handbike on Friday June 19, remains in a worrying state.

Indeed, doctors have not noted any positive developments concerning the former pilot of Formula 1. « Alex Zanardi's clinical conditions remain stable. The third night of stay in intensive care passed without variations. The clinical conditions therefore remain unchanged in the cardio-respiratory and metabolic parameters while the neurological picture remains serious.

The patient is sedated, intubated and mechanically ventilated and the prognosis remains guarded. The multidisciplinary team treating him will evaluate the diagnostic-therapeutic actions to be taken in the coming days. »

The doctors will meet on Tuesday June 23 at noon for a new health report. 

Admitted to intensive care on Friday At the end of the day, Alessandro Zanardi underwent a 3-hour major surgery for serious head and jaw injuries after being rushed to hospital by helicopter.

The 53-year-old Italian, who had his legs amputated after a terrible Champ Car accident in 2001 at the Lausitzring (Germany), was carrying out a handbike training session with the Paralympic team when he lost control of his vehicle and found himself on the other side of the road. The multiple Paralympic gold medalist was unable to avoid an oncoming truck.
