Alon Day titled for the third time

His name is now at the top of the list of the series promoted by Team Fj and Jérôme Galpin's troops. By finishing fourth in the second race of the Valencia finale in Spain, Alon Day not only scored enough points to capture the 2020 EuroNascar Pro crown, but put his stamp on the championship even further. Nascar European.

This coronation, the third in four years, allows the Israeli from Team PK Carsport to rise to the level of legend Ander Vilariño (crowned in 2012, 2013 and 2015). A logical conclusion to a particular 2020 campaign, but where Alon Day put his stamp on the Nascar Whelen Euro Series like never before, after the domination in 2019 of Loris Hezemans, winner of the final confrontation last Sunday in Spain.

"I don't have the words, blurted out the driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro. 2020 was a very difficult year for me when I left everything behind in Israel to live in Belgium next to the PK Carsport workshops.

Dedication was enough to win the championship this year. It was so difficult to live alone during confinement, both physically and mentally. This weekend was one of the most demanding of my life, but we did it. Now and I'm finally going home. »

Day will thus be able to fill an already substantial trophy cabinet, with not only his 2020 champion cup, but also the rewards of his 23rd and 24th career victories throughout the week spent on the Ricardo Tormo track, the Nascar Whelen Euro Series playing two meetings in four days.

Winner of the second race of the first meeting on Saturday, Day had surpassed Ander Vilariño in the number of career victories, before becoming the only driver with the most victories a few hours later on Sunday, by removing the first confrontation of the finals. A 24th triumph which then allowed him to have a 24-point lead before the last start in the afternoon.

Starting well from pole, Day took no risks after the restart of the 6th lap following an intervention by the safety car, and controlled the proceedings from his fourth place to take the lead.
