Aragon, C1 – First victory of the year for Vernay and Romeo Ferraris
This time, no one will take away his joy. Author of pole position on Saturday at Motorland Aragon (Spain) for Race 3, Jean-Karl Vernay (Alfa Romeo) was penalized several hours later due to track limits not being respected.
Le Villeurbannais, qui a fêté ses 33 ans hier, s’est parfaitement rattrapé en remportant la première course dominicale. Parti troisième, le champion TCR International Series 2017 a immédiatement pris l’avantage sur Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) et Santiago Urrutia (Lynk & Co), trop occupés à se bagarrer au premier freinage.
The Frenchman signs his very first victory in almost two years (Macao in 2018)! He is also back in third place in the championship and is only 38 points behind the leader, Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co).
The latter made his way from the back of the grid (engine change) to finish 11th after notably overtaking his direct pursuer in the general classification, Esteban Guerrieri (Honda, 13th).
Yvan Muller (Lynk & Co) finished seventh while Nathanaël Berthon (Audi) was 12th. Aurélien Comte (Renault) retired due to mechanical problems after two laps.
