The 24 Hours of Nürburgring 2025 was disrupted by an incident outside of sport. After an hour and a half into the German race, a power outage in the pits caused the red flag to be raised.

With the teams and Race Management no longer having any information on the progress of the competition (no live timing, no data, and no rankings), the ADAC, the organization in charge of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, has decided to stop the race. Furthermore, refueling is impossible due to this failure.

"A power outage in the pit lane paralyzed race control and the refueling system. As a result, track safety and the entire infrastructure cannot function, and refueling is also impossible. A safe and fair race is therefore not possible.

The reason for the power outage was a faulty refrigeration system, which controls and cools the air conditioners in large parts of the box building. It overheated because an exceptionally high cooling capacity was required due to the summer temperatures. The system has now been disconnected from the grid and will no longer be used. All other electrical circuits have been tested. This should help identify the fault and eliminate it for the rest of the race.

The race is expected to resume when the power is restored in the late afternoon and the green flag was waved again at 20:05 p.m. Pole position winner Kevin Estre (Porsche Manthey-Racing's 911 GT3 R) is in the lead at 20:30 p.m. The Frenchman had just taken the wheel after the Preining pit stop when the race was interrupted. He is just a few seconds ahead of another Porsche, that of Alessio Picariello from the Falken team. The rest of the GT3 field is more than 10 seconds back and is led by the only BMW M4 GT3 entered this weekend, that of Rowe Racing and driven by Kelvin van der Linde.
