First success in 2025 for Giuliano Alesi in Malaysia

For the first time since 2013, the Japanese Super GT Championship set up camp in Malaysia, heading to the Sepang circuit. This track, which his father Jean Alesi once knew, was the one he Cheers GP, Giuliano Alesi delivered a perfect performance.

The Frenchman let his teammate Ukyo Sasahara take the start aboard the Toyota Tom's GR Supra. The Japanese driver extended his stint as long as possible and was the last GT500 competitor to change tires in the pits.

Meanwhile, the team reacted quickly by changing the tires and refueling quickly enough for the car to resume the race without losing position.

Having thus managed to take the lead, the No. 37 car continued on its way with Giuliano Alesi at the wheel, managing to resist the No. 8 Honda of Tomoki Nojiri and Nobuharu Matsushita. Subsequently, Alesi, driving the No. 37 car, gradually increased his lead, eventually finishing the 55th lap of the race with a lead of around 19 seconds, thus giving the team its first victory of the season.

“I was tasked with driving in the second half of the race, and when I left the pits I thought it would be difficult to maintain my lead (with car #8 approaching). But I didn't give up and kept pushing hard. And my tires heated up faster than I thought they would. So I'm happy I was able to take the win."
