A few days before the final round of 2024, the Italian and icon of Super GT in Japan caused a shockwave by announcing his retirement.

Ronnie Quintarelli, a samurai's farewell

Never give up, until the last meter of the last lap. A sort of mantra for Ronnie Quintarelli, 45 years old since August 9. Nissan/Nismo fans, many of them made the trip to Suzuka to attend his last appearance in Super GT. And for good reason, a few days earlier, on the occasion of the Nismo Festival organized on the Fuji Speedway, the Italian had taken everyone by surprise by announcing that he would hang up his helmet the following weekend.

At Suzuka, with the flamboyant driving style that he has always shown throughout his career, Ronnie put on a show. Starting from 11th on the grid, he let loose aggressively to hand over the wheel in 6th place. In qualifying, the set-up wasn't working the way I wanted and I wasn't confident enough to attack the laps.
