Black Falcon disqualified from Barcelona results

The superb performance of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°4 – Mercedes-AMG Team Black Falcon by Maro Engel – Yelmer Buurman – Luca Stolz would it have been too good during the finale of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in Barcelona?

The winning car of the event, and of the Drivers and Teams titles, was excluded from the results of the race this evening, for a technical non-confirmation detected during the post-race technical checks.

In question, the presence of tape at the level of an air intake duct of the Mercedes-AMG, which was not questioned by the members of the team. But the latter suggested that it was common to present Mercedes-AMGs like this, without this bringing any performance gains.

Despite everything, this tape is not in accordance with the FIA homologation form #042 and therefore contradicts articles 6 and 11 of the sporting regulations.

Black Falcon having decided to appeal, the results therefore remain provisionally as they are. In the event of a confirmed exclusion of the No. 4, victory would go to the No. 3 Mercedes-AMG GT88 – Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA-ASP of Raffaele Marciello – Tristan Vautier – Dani Juncadella, as well as the Drivers' titles (for Marciello ) and Teams for AKKA-ASP in the Endurance Cup.
