Blancpain Endurance – Von Ryan Racing master of strategy

With two successes in 2015, Kevin Estre, Shane Van Gisbergen and Rob Bell finish the season best performers in the Blancpain championship Endurance Series. Before last weekend's German success, the residents of the McLaren 650S GT3 n°58 from Von Ryan Racing had already won at Silverstone in Great Britain in May. Two victories which will remain marked by two perfect pit stop strategies.

24th on the grid at the Nürburgring last weekend, the trio once again benefited from a bold choice by Von Ryan Racing and an early pit stop. “When the call from my engineer came over the radio to announce that we were going to 'roll the dice' with the strategy, I was a little surprised, but it was absolutely the right decision. » specified the Briton.

Andrew Kirklady, manager of McLaren GT, admitted his satisfaction at the end of this final in the Eifel. “It’s a deserved victory after an incredibly bold strategy, which the drivers took advantage of to perfection. It’s one of the toughest GT championships in the world, and to win at this level is a great achievement, so being the only car to win twice shows our strength. »

Fourth in the final general classification, Estre, Van Gisbergen and Bell were however unable to prevent Alex Buncombe and his teammates Wolfgang Reip and Katsumasa Chiyo (Nissan GT Academy Team RJN), from winning the Pro Cup Drivers title.
