Blancpain / Nürburgring – Prospeed triumphs

Leading the general classification since the first round of the season, the Marc VDS Racing team lost its leadership position this afternoon. The fault was an exit from the track following a collision, while Markus Palttala was at the wheel. However, the weekend was off to a good start, since Maxime Martin had, earlier in the day, taken pole position. The new leaders of the championship are Stéphane Ortelli, Christopher Haase and Christopher Mies, fourth today, and who are driving the No. 8 Audi R1 LMS ultra of the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT. The three men will approach the final meeting, in Navarra, Spain, on October 14, with a small three-point lead over Leinders-Martin-Palttala. Suffice to say that nothing is decided. Nor on the team side, since it is now the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT which leads the way, with four more units on the clock than Marc VDS Racing.

Today, the stars were Belgian, as is often the case in Blancpain Endurance Series. The Prospeed Compétition team won its first victory in the championship this season after a race well led by Marc Hennerici, Xavier Maassen and Marc Goosens. The latter also showed himself to be impeccable during the final relay, during which he had to resist the Mercedes Black Falcon Racing's SLS AMG GT3, driven by Jeroen Bleekemolen at the time. The Dutchman and his acolytes, the Frenchman Mike Parisy and the Chinese Con Fu Cheng, climbed onto the second step of a podium completed by the No. 4 BMW Z4 Vita66One Racing of Franck Kechele-Mathias Lauda-Greg Franchi.

Note on the French side the good fifth place of the Audi R8 LMS Saintéloc Racing of Dino Lunardi, Grégory Guilvert and Jonathan Hirschi.
