Blancpain Sprint – HTP resists Team WRT

The qualifying race Blancpain Sprint Series in Portimão, Portugal will have offered complete suspense until the last lap. Robin Frijns, aligned with the n°8 Audi R1 LMS ultra, will have tried everything to pass the n°3 Bentley Continental GT84 of Maximilian Buhk on the last lap, even going into contact but going out too wide on the next corner. Buhk finally crossed the line as the winner ahead of Frijns (also the victim of a puncture) and the #8 Phoenix Racing Audi R6 LMS ultra of Winkelhock? Mayr-Melnhof.

Before this twist ending, Vincent Abril had allowed the Bentley n°84 to take the best start, passing for a time the No. 8 Audi R2 LMS ultra of Christopher Mies, the latter immediately regaining his lead with an overtake carried out outside the limits of the track. This maneuver will earn its driver a drive-through, thus propelling Abril into the lead.

After the driver changes, Robin Frijns managed to spend some time in the lead against Max Buhk before the latter took back first place a lap later before the end of the race as we know. In the Silver Cup, Jules Szymkowiak and Max van Splunteren (Bentley Team HTP) won while Alexey Vasilyev and Marco Asmer (GT Russian Team) won in Pro-Am.

The main race will take place tomorrow Sunday at 15:05 p.m.
