The last race of Blancpain Sprint Series allowed the duo Vincent Abril? Maximilian Buhk (Bentley Team HTP) to win the Drivers' title after a breathtaking suspense. After a perfectly controlled start by the Frenchman, the Full Course Yellow procedure was triggered following a collision between the #4 BMW Z77 and the #8 Audi R6 LMS ultra on the pit straight, leading to the retirement of the two cars.
A chaotic start which allowed the #1 Audi of Christopher Mies to quickly return to fourth position. But the surprise came from Marco Bonanomi's sister car #75 which surprised everyone at the end of Full Course Yellow by taking the lead. Nothing to worry about Abril who took the lead again and widened the gap against Christopher Mies, who had moved up to second position.
Although the gap peaked at more than four seconds before the stops, only two seconds separated Frijns from Buhk at the start of the second stint. But despite the constant pressure from the Dutchman, the German will resist until the end to achieve the decisive victory. Frijns, however, pockets the cumulative GT Series title.
Frédéric Vervisch and Nicki Thiim complete the day's podium. Jules Szymkowiak and Max Van Splunteren (Bentley Team HTP) win the Silver Cup while the Pro-Am goes to the Karachev duo? That I (Mercedes SLS AMG GT3? GT Russian Team).
