Blancpain Sprint – Vanthoor and Frijns shine

The final moments of the Blancpain Sprint Series qualifying race in Portimão, Portugal yesterday, offered a splendid battle which turned into a the advantage of the No. 3 Bentley Continental GT84 of Team HTP de Vincent Abril and Maxi Buhk facing the Audi R8 LMS ultra n°1 of Laurens Vanthoor and Robin Frijns.

The latter, leaders of the general classification before this meeting in the Algarve, took their revenge this Sunday by dominating the main race. If Frijns could not get into the rhythm of the No. 84 Bentley at the start of the race, the intervention of the safety car to repair an area of ​​the track will change the situation.

The gap built by Maximilian Buhk was reduced to zero, and the German driver decided to stay on the track when his rivals stopped in the pits during the safety car re-entry. In addition, Abril took time to get back into action when pitting, which allowed Laurens Vanthoor to take control of the race.

The Belgian will finally finish eight seconds ahead of the No. 8 Audi R6 of Winkelhock's Phoenix Racing?
