Blancpain – A Rast – Stevens duo at WRT

A few days after confirming its 2016 programs and revealing the composition of its crews, the Team WRT took advantage of the official Paul-Ricard tests, held this Wednesday and Thursday, to announce the entry of an Audi R8 LMS for the pair René Rast – Will Stevens in eight of the ten Blancpain GT Series events.

An almost complete program for this shock duo, who will however miss the rounds of Brands Hatch in the Sprint Cup and the Nürburgring in Endurance Cup due to conflict of dates with the World Endurance Championship.

René Rast is a regular in GT3 events, the German having registered his name on the list of winners at the 24 Hours of Spa (2012) and the Nürburgring (2014), before evolving in WEC with Audi last year at Spa and Le Mans. The German will line up with G-Drive in the WEC in 2016. Will Stevens will make his debut in GT, after having evolved in F1 with Manor in 2015, and in parallel with his involvement with the team of John Booth and Graeme Lowdon in the WEC on an Oreca 05 LM P2.

This was not possible last year, following his commitment to Formula 1, but I am happy that we are able to do it now. I am also happy to have René with us on a full season basis for a third year in a row. We all know how fast he is and he is simply the type of driver you want to have with you and not against you! »
