BMW unveils its Evo package for the M6 GT3

BMW Motorsport is developing a new package soberly called Evo for its M6 GT3 in competition for two years. The developments will focus on improving the behavior of the car by optimizing its operating window and increasing the lifespan of the elements. Some elements have been changed while others have been modified.

The Bavarian manufacturer was able to compare its current model with the Evo package during a test session carried out in mid-July at the Lausitzring (Germany) and describes the progress as “promising”. The FIA will now have to approve the changes made. BMW assures that operating costs will remain low, the engine being able to cover a distance of 15km compared to 000 previously.

“Testing with the Evo package for 2018 was a lot of fun, assures official BMW driver Philipp Eng. Thanks to the developments, the BMW M6 GT3 has become much easier and more comfortable to drive. The steering is also more regular, which tires the pilot less. I congratulate the BMW engineers who have done a very good job with the Evo package. »

BMW Motorsport still intends to operate the M6 GT3 for several years, even if the Propeller brand is also preparing its program in WEC with the M8 GTE.

“The BMW M6 GT3 will remain the flagship of BMW’s racing customer program and our flagship model at the prestigious 24 Hours of Nürburgring (Germany) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) in 2018 and beyond, assures Jens Marquardt, director of BMW Motorsport. We are working on the Evo package to offer our customers an even better car. The latest tests at the Lausitzring showed that we had made great progress, particularly in terms of driving. »

BMW Motorsport did not specify in its press release which elements had been modified on the Evo version.
