BMW wins but Seat scores

BMW is missing a good opportunity to score big points in the WTCC. If Sergio Hernandez won in the second race, the 320Si got in the way too often and let Seat place four Leon TDIs in the top 6.

BMW wins but Seat scores

Eighth in the first race, Yvan Muller moved to first place on the starting grid. When the lights went out, Felix Porteiro (BMW) caught up with the World Champion and took the lead followed a few meters further by his compatriot Sergio Hernandez (BMW). At the end of the first lap, Porteiro was ahead of Hernandez, Yvan Muller, Tiago Monteiro, Gabriel Tarquini, Ryckard Rydell, Alex Zanardi and Jörg Müller.

Agusto Farfus (BMW) continues to experience hell in the Czech Republic when he leaves the track. Alain Menu (Chevrolet) was also stopped on the first loop.

Hernandez takes the advantage over Porteiro during the fourth round. The Seat armada benefits from this. Yvan Muller and Tiago Monteiro pass the first of the independents in stride. In the peloton, Alex Zanardi was pushed into the gravel trap while Tarquini and Rydell were overtaken by the BMWs of Andy Priaulx and Jörg Müller.

The fierce duel between teammates Müller and Priaulx cost BMW dearly. The two 320Sis got in their way and let the Leon TDIs of Tarquini and Rydell pass shortly after halfway.

While the gaps are widening between the first four, Hernandez, Muller, Monteiro and Porteiro, Tarquini, Rydell, Priaulx and Müller are brushing against each other. Müller manages to pass Priaulx taking advantage of an unsuccessful attack from the Briton on the Seat drivers.

Total success for the BMW Team Italy-Spain which won twice today with Alex Zanardi in the first race and Sergio Hernandez in the second but success remains on the side of Seat with the big points scored by Yvan Muller ( 8th and 2nd) and Gabriele Tarquini (3rd and 5th) while Agusto Farfus sees his counter blocked.
