BMW takes advantage of the windfall at Monza

Augusto Farfus (BMW 320si), although on pole, did not get off to a perfect start in the first race. It is Gabriele Tarquini (SEAT Leon TSI) and especially Rob Huff (Chevrolet Cruze) who benefit, the Briton taking the lead. But, on the second lap, thanks to the long straight at Monza, the reigning World Champion overtook Huff and took the lead for a long time. If Huff manages to stay within the tailpipes of Tarquini, the ranking will change very little until the last lap.

A final lap which proved fatal for the leading drivers. While Gabriele Tarquini flies to victory, he suffers a puncture and has to leave Robert Huff, who suffers from the same problem in his turn. A few dozen meters from the finish line, the Briton passed by the two BMWs of Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus, who had been driving together for several laps.

Robert Huff manages to save third place on the podium, keeping two tenths ahead of his teammate Yvan Muller. On the other hand, Gabriele Tarquini, who fell to seventh place, made the wrong move in this first race.
