The curse strikes again. Strong man of this Richmond race with 207 of the 400 laps spent in the lead, Denny Hamlin once again saw victory slip away from him. This time his executioner is named Alex Bowman.

Penalized and falling back in the standings, the Hendrick Motorsports driver found himself at the front for the final restart. Moment chosen by the man from Tucson, Arizona to go on the offensive.
Intelligently placed behind Joey Logano (Team Penske) and leader Denny Hamlin with 12 laps to go, the driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro made a perfect restart and scolded the two leading men.

Unleashed, Alex Bowman would no longer be caught and would cross the finish line first, much to the dismay of Denny Hamlin who let slip away a victory that was practically acquired.
