Byron wins at Daytona, Johnson absent from Chase

Among the drivers vying for the final qualifying spots for the 2020 Chase, William Byron (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet) secured his place in the top 16 last night by winning the final race of the regular season at Daytona (Florida).

Une victoire, la première de sa carrière, que Byron a empoché en prolongations en maintenant derrière lui son équipier Chase Elliott et Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing –  Toyota).

The end of the race was marked by two Big Ones. The first concerns the incident in the last ten laps initiated by Tyler Reddick (Richard Childress Racing – Chevrolet), who returned in a virile manner to the top line to block Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing).

The latter, as well as Erik Jones (Joe Gibbs Racing) were eliminated, while a new collision occurred after the following restart, notably involving Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports), who thus saw his hopes of being present in the Chase dashed. take off for its last full season in Nascar Cup Series
