C1: Bortolotti-Engelhart relaunch the championship at the Nürburgring

The fight for the Drivers' title remains fully open after the first race of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup final held at the Nürburgring (Germany). Saturday afternoon, the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart relaunched in the fight thanks to an undisputed success.

Starting from pole position, the Italian GT3 of the Grasser Racing Team retained the lead throughout the hour of racing contested in ideal conditions. This victory allows the Italian-German duo to return just 11 points from the lead in the general classification.

Arriving tied at the accounting level, Alex Riberas and Christopher Mies (Audi) took a little breath thanks to their second place. It was not an easy affair, if we point out that during the morning, the Audi R8 LMS is embedded in the protective tires ! Team WRT mechanics managed to repair the car in time.

Finally, today's losers are Raffaele Marciello and Michael Meadows (Mercedes). At the top of the general classification this morning, the pair of the team AKKA-ASP lost six points on Riberas-Mies with a 5th place.

It must be said that the task looked complicated starting from an average 10th position. Raffaele Marciello even went into the gravel during his stint. The podium is completed by Will Stevens and Dries Vanthoor (Audi).

The last race of the season will start on Sunday at 16 p.m.
