C2 – Files winner and title in TCR Europe, Briché vice-champion
The title chance was slim, yet Julien Briché (Peugeot ) a fait tout ce qui était en son pouvoir pour coiffer la couronne TCR Europe, dimanche 13 octobre à Monza (Italie). Le Français devait finir dans les deux premières places de la Course 2 et compter sur un résultat hors du top 11 pour le leader du championnat, Josh Files (Hyundai).
Unfortunately for the boss of JSB Competition, the 26-year-old Briton did not fail under the pressure. Starting second, the double TCR Germany champion led the entire race and scored his third success of the season.
As for Julien Briché, he was one of the great leaders of the event. Starting from ninth place due to the reverse grid principle, the best performer of the 2019 campaign (four victories) overtook everyone… except Josh Files.
The third step on the podium was initially expected to fall to Aurélien Comte (Peugeot), but the DG Sport Compétition driver received a 10-second penalty for not having slowed down sufficiently after overtaking Daniel Lloyd outside the limits of the track ( Honda).
In the general classification, Julien Briché is vice-champion for his first campaign at European level. Nelson Panciatici (Hyundai), first leader after the opening meeting in Hungary, placed fifth. Aurélien Comte goes back to seventh.
