Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) is gaining momentum in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). The outgoing double World RX champion, who was content with a single podium during the first four rounds of the 2019 season, won the second race held on the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring (Germany), Saturday June 22.

Starting from pole thanks to the principle of the reverse grid (he had achieved the 10th time in Q2), the 30-year-old Swede repelled the offensives of wild card Antti Buri (Audi, 13th) and Frédéric Vervisch (Audi, 2nd ) to take a considerable lead over the three rounds.
Sebastian's English Loeb Racing had to retire, and given the damage and the distance from the pits, it should certainly not take part in Race 3 (start at 12:20 p.m.). The incident is being placed under investigation by commissioners.
It was not even the Italian veteran who finished third, but the returning Augusto Farfus (Hyundai), author of a convincing comeback from 10th place. The first Frenchman is Aurélien Panis (Cupra), ninth, just ahead of Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi, 10th). Yvan Muller (Lynk & Co) finished 17th, while Yann Ehrlacher retired after one lap due to damage to his mount.
