The difficult conditions encountered in Austin allowed the reigning champion to claim a prestigious victory for the first race in the history of the NASCAR on the Circuit Of The Americas.
The rain, although rare in Texas at this time of year, punctuated the weekend and offered us a breathtaking spectacle during this event which was interrupted with 14 laps to go.
If the young guns Tyler Reddick (Richard Childress Racing) and Austin Cindric (Team Penske) animated the race, the two intermediate segments were won by two former Cup champions, respectively Joey Logano (Team Penske) and Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing).
The second segment was interrupted for a long time following a series of spectacular collisions on the back straight due to a total lack of visibility.

Although the conditions seemed to improve at the restart, the rain returned and the race management made the wise decision to place the race under a red flag 14 laps from the end when Kurt Busch (Chip Ganassi Racing) almost rammed two cars, including his brother's. The cause was heard and a few minutes later the end of the race was announced giving Chase Elliott his first victory of the season ahead of his Hendrick teammate, Kyle Larson.
Next Sunday, Nascar will visit the Charlotte Speedway.
