Chevrolet crowned in Pau

The second event in Pau once again offered a race full of twists and turns. After the reversal of positions following the first race, the BMWs found themselves side by side in ambush. Andy Priaulx, full of ambition, tries to slip through. Surrounded by two teammates, the Briton tried to avoid Augusto Farfus and collided with Jorg Müller. In the traffic jam of the first turns, the collision led to the lowering of the yellow flag. Especially since, at the same time, pushed by Porteiro, Hernandez crashed into his BMW. The situation therefore requires the entry of the safety car. It arrives at low speed in front of the peloton and is hit by Franz Engstler, who destroys its suspension. After a stoppage in the race, it resumes, with Alain Menu at the controls.

Taking advantage of Engstler's mishap, the Chevrolet driver held the lead, despite Farfus' attempts. But, without a driving error, it was impossible to overtake on the narrow Pau circuit. The Brazilian driver must then wait, in ambush behind Menu. Same observation for Priaulx, fourth, who follows Rob Huff in his tracks. But the two Chevrolet cars maintain the advantage over the two BMWs to glean two places on the podium after twenty laps. A full weekend for Chevrolet, which took home the two successes of the day. Good operation for Rob Huff, who placed twice on the podium and moved up in the general classification, just like Farfus, twice second.

The Seats, after grabbing a few places in the first race, took advantage of the adventures of the second to climb into the points. Gabriele Tarquini and Yvan Muller thus climbed to sixth and seventh places, to score consolation points after a very difficult weekend. Eric Cayrolle, in eighth place, and despite an accident on the last lap with Nicola Larini, ranks first among the independent drivers.
