Chevrolet returns to the top

If Chevrolet manages to place two of its cars at the head of each of the two Moroccan races, it is the Frenchman who is doing the right thing for the weekend. By bringing thirteen points from Morocco, the Alsatian widens the gap on his pursuers, starting with Tarquini and Rydell, who are now twelve and thirteen lengths behind in the world championship standings. Seat can therefore rejoice at the end of this weekend.

However, it is Chevrolet which is at the party. The American brand sees two of its three cars point their hoods at the head of the two races. And brought down the big box in 2009 for Seat, which had collected four victories in as many races. It was first Robert Huff who distinguished himself in the first race, not letting go of the lead from start to finish. The Briton made a nice comeback in the general classification by scoring his first points of the season. Rydell, co-leader of the championship (with Muller) before this race, is having a dark weekend. Having made a mistake, he left the first round and did not take part in the second.

In the second race, it was the other Chevrolet driver, Nicola Larini, who won. This is the first WTCC success for the Italian, who started in third position on the grid. With this victory, the American firm stood out in fine style by scoring 29 points over the weekend. Behind Larini, Muller prevents a Chevrolet double by resisting attacks from Huff, who is definitely very restless. He achieved a second place which gave him eight precious points in the standings.

Chevrolet is back in the game during this Moroccan weekend with two great victories. For his part, Yvan Muller secures two places which give him important points in the title race. He now has twelve and thirteen points ahead of Tarquini and Rydell, the Swede being the big loser of the weekend.
