Côme Ledogar: “The year of bad luck”

Committed to a double Blancpain GT Series program Endurance Cup / Porsche Carrera Cup France cette saison, Côme Ledogar n’a pas connu la réussite escomptée en GT3 avec l’Aston Martin Vantage operated by Garage 59.

The 2016 Endurance Cup champion, with the British structure, only achieved a ninth place at the season opener at Monza, before experiencing a dark streak marked by four retirements at Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Spa and Barcelona .

A clear disillusionment for the Frenchman, lined up alongside Jonny Adam and Andrew Watson, a crew that could legitimately aim for the podiums in 2019.

“It's the year of bad luck: I did a stint at Monza in the rain, then I couldn't complete a single other stint on slicks during the year, Côme Ledogar told us at Paul Ricard.

At Silverstone there is a crash at the start, at Paul Ricard, we are in the top 3 but we have a mechanical problem. Same in Spa after 15 minutes of racing. In Barcelona we were in the top 10, with a clean race.

I'm ready to get in the car, but my teammate gets hit and the car is destroyed. It's difficult, because I haven't really been able to ride a Blancpain. We had a great crew.

The Aston Martin Vantage was good, but other cars may be a little better. We need to make it evolve. »

For 2020, a return to GT3 is logically on the cards for the former 2014 Carrera Cup France champion. “I’m not under contract yet, specifies the Lyonnais. In idea, I don't see why I won't continue with Garage 59.

I really enjoy working with them. But nothing has been signed yet. A team like Garage 59 can do so many championships, it will probably be GT World Challenge and Intercontinental GT Challenge. But once again, nothing has been decided. There is still one race left in Kyalami. »

Côme Ledogar also admits to being “in contact” with a view to the next 24 Hours of Le Mans. “I would really like to do it again with AF Corse (Ledogar had evolved under the Car Guy banner in Sarthe), He continues. I really enjoyed working with them.

It's different from what I've known, not better, not worse. But it's a feeling. Do weekends like that, like in the Asian Le Mans Series. »
