Connor de Phillippi puts BMW and Walkenhorst on pole at Indianapolis

Accustomed to American events in IMSA with BMW Team RLL, Connor by Phillippi showed the most verve last night in the Shoot-Out for pole position for the 8 Hours of Indianapolis, the second meeting of the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The pilot of the #6 BMW M3 GT34 – Walkenhorst Motorsport dominated the decisive session reserved for the ten best cars at the end of qualifying, completing his reference time in 1'23″318.

De Phillippi thus precedes Jules Gounon (Bentley Continental GT3 n°7 – K-Pax Racing) by 0″242, when Mario Farnbacher (Acura NSX GT3 Evo n°30 – Team Honda Racing) fails by half a second.

The No. 3 Bentley Continental GT7, however, will only start from 10th position after an irregularity in the installation of the GPS, leading to a penalty after technical inspections.

Nick Yelloly places the second #6 BMW M3 GT35 – Walkenhorst Motorsport in fourth place, ahead of the #3 Acura NSX GT93 Evo – Racers Edge Motorsports of Trent Hindman and the #488 Ferrari 3 GT1 – Team Corsa by Alessandro Balzan.

Mirko Bortolotti (No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT31 Evo – Team Hardpoint WRT) only took seventh position.

The 8 Hours of Indianapolis will be contested this Sunday with a live video starting at 15:30 p.m. to follow live on our website.
