Cupra presents its electric e-Racer… and its thermal Leon Competición

This Thursday evening, Cupra, the sporting branch of Seat, has launched its new major Pure ETCR sports program by officially presenting its new Cupra e-Racer, at the same time as the new road models.

This 100% electric car must evolve in the new series which must begin this year with several events, and whose first real season will begin in 2021, as confirmed yesterday during the championship presentation.

The e-Racer has a powertrain made up of four electric motors and a 65 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack which provides the car with 500 kW (or 680 hp) and 960 Nm of torque.

The design and aerodynamics have been carefully worked on, taking into account the specificities of an electric model, in particular with the removal of the front grille, replaced by an opening in the hood which improves aerodynamics.

The wheel arches have also been studied down to the smallest detail to promote air extraction. Mattias Ekström, double champion DTM and WRX world champion, and Jordi Gene, a regular in touring events, will be the two Pure ETCR drivers.

Note that Cupra also presented a thermal version of its car, the Leon Competición TCR, powered by a 2,0 hp 340-liter turbo unit which will be available for pre-ordered examples next April.
