Denny Hamlin takes advantage of the rain in Darlington

The race in Darlington (South Carolina) did not finish last night, due to the arrival of rain which prematurely ended the proceedings, thus offering victory to Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota).

The winner of the Daytona 500 last February took control of the race by choosing not to stop in the pits under a yellow flag after the incident involving Clint Bowyer (Stewart-Haas Racing – Ford).

At the head of the peloton at the restart, Hamlin retained his property until the accident between Chase Elliott (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet) and Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota), contact that caused a lot of talk last night.

Busch slammed into the left rear of Elliott's Chevrolet, with Elliott expressing his displeasure with a middle finger moments later. It was then Alan Gustafson, responsible for Elliott's car, formerly alongside Kyle Busch, who went to explain himself to his ex-driver.

Busch then admitted his mistake on this action which undoubtedly cost Elliott a good place at the finish.

As the tension subsided, it was finally the rain which definitively interrupted the proceedings to seal the victory for Denny Hamlin ahead of Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing).
