The European Touring Car Cup takes place this season over four events. Among the entrants is the Maurer team, which will enter two Chevrolet Aveos for young Russian drivers.

Two Chevrolet Aveos for Maurer in ETCC

The European Touring Car Cup will share the bill with the WTCC on three occasions at Monza (March 11), Valencia (April 1) and Salzburg (May 20), with the final taking place solo at Imola on June 24. The opportunity for the Swiss Maurer Motorsport team to share the world championship paddock which it had occupied on several occasions in 2006 and 2007 with the Belgian Vincent Radermecker and the Spanish Maria de Villota. Beate Maurer then entered Chevrolet Lacetti.

Thanks to the links established with the manufacturer, the team has built two Chevrolet Aveos entered in the Super 1600 category of the ETCC. “ A 100% private initiative. We simply sold series models to Maurer, but they are responsible for all development », Confided Eric Nève, the boss of Chevrolet in the WTCC, to autohebdo.fr. The Aveos will be entrusted to two young Russian drivers, Alexander Frolov (21 years old) and Vadim Meshcheryakov (19 years old), respectively “Touring” and “National” champions last season in the Russian Touring Car Championship.

At the same time as this European Cup, the cars will compete in division 2 of ADAC Procar, in Germany. A world known to Maurer who was champion in 2005 with Mathias Schläppi (MG ZS with technical assistance from West Surrey Racing) and in 2006 with Vincent Radermecker (Chevrolet Lacetti).
