Emil Frey on pole before rain in Barcelona

There was no need to hang around in the stands! On Saturday, the first qualifying session for the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup final in Barcelona came down to one lap, or almost.

The rain then arrived and the teams were simply able to test their settings in these conditions, without being able to improve.

In this little game, the Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini n°14 entered in the Silver Cup and driven by Ricardo Feller and Mikaël Grenier was the fastest in 1'45''572.

But the beautiful operation of the morning comes mainly from the Mercedes Haupt Racing n°4 of Luca Stolz and Maro Engel. Second in qualifying at 367 thousandths, she outdistances her rivals in the championship.

The No. 88 AKKA-ASP Mercedes of Timur Boguslavskiy and Raffaele Marciello will only start fifth and the two Audi WRTs of Charles Weerts-Dries Vanthoor and Ryuichiro Tomita-Kelvin Van der Linde will only start eighth and ninth respectively.

The No. 25 Saintéloc Racing Audi in the hands of Christopher Haase and Arthur Rougier is even further behind in 12th place.

La Ferrari Tempesta Racing of Eddie Cheever and Chris Froggatt dominated the Pro-AM category with a time of 1:47.
