Nice introduction to the brand new Porsche 911 GT3 R whose official debut is planned for the next 24 Hours of Daytona (January 26-29). While waiting to receive approval and the double Florida clock, the new car from Stuttgart was entitled to its first outing on the track on the occasion of the 6th round of the NLS the weekend.

Thus, Frédéric Makowiecki and Julien Andlauer had the pleasure of inaugurating the new Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Green Hell. On site, the German vehicle took part in the 4-hour race in the SP-X category, reserved for non-homologated cars. To avoid interfering with the championship, the two Tricolores had to observe an additional 30 seconds of stopping during each refueling in addition to a BoP equivalent to that of the SP-9, the premier category of the NLS.

Covered by the well-known Grello livery of Manthey Racing, the new Porsche 911 GT3 R, despite all the constraints imposed, responded with a 3rd place, just over 2 minutes behind the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II No. 16 of the victorious Team Phoenix. Fun fact, the future replacement for the 911 RSR was the best Porsche across the finish line.

« It was positive, Frédéric Makowiecki told us. Beyond the final result, the goal was to validate what we had seen during testing in racing conditions. What's great is that we had mixed conditions with rain and dry. We were also able to observe how the car behaves in traffic. All these points reassured us. We still have areas of work, but the car offers a very good basis. We arrive much more ready than we were with the older generations."
