ETCR – Romeo Ferraris launches its electric Alfa Romeo Giulia

Without making any noise, the Electric TCR (ETCR) is rallying the votes of those involved in global tourism. The championship founded by Marcello Lotti (creator of the TCR concept), which already counts as officially committed manufacturers Cupra and Hyundai, is pleased to welcome a third brand: Alfa Romeo.

Please note, the Italian manufacturer is not directly involved in this project. The small private structure Romeo Ferraris (also based in Milan), author of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR in 2015 and its Veloce evolution in 2019, is leading this initiative.

C’est la berline cossue Giulia qui a été choisie pour s’adapter à l’électrique. Comme pour la Cupra e-Racer et la Hyundai Veloster, the mechanics (batteries, motor) will be common. Maximum power will reach the equivalent of 600 horsepower.

Finally, trans society engineersalpine Hexathron Racing System (seen in 24 Hours of Le Mans with Ebi Motors, in BTCC and in WTCC with Lada) will be requisitioned by this project.

Michela Cerruti, Operations Manager at Romeo Ferraris, recognizes that it will be a long road before we see the Giulia on the track. “ A lot of things need to be sketched out, and that's completely normal when you're starting from scratch. 

We believe that electric is the obvious choice for the future, not only for the automotive market but also for racing. Our engineers are already at work, we started the adventure later than the other major manufacturers, with more resources than us. But we will do everything to keep our reputation. »
