Farfus in the wheels of Muller

This Sunday, for Augusto Farfus, Muller is an essential name. First Jorg, the German, whom he dropped a short distance from the end, even though he had led most of the second race. Then Yvan, the Frenchman, who is hot on his heels in the world championship rankings at the end of this Spanish weekend. And more broadly, BMW can congratulate itself on the Brazilian's victory, which gives the German brand its first WTCC victory in 2009.

With the positions reversed after the first race, the BMWs were the clear favorites for the second session. Already very fast, Augusto Farfus, Andy Priaulx and Jorg Muller had indicated, by moving up the peloton during the first round, that the BMWs were at ease on the Valencian circuit. And occupying five of the first six places at the start of the second, the “big points” seemed to be reaching out to them.

Jorg Muller dominated most of the 13 laps, before seeing Augusto Farfus move to the front. Yvan Muller?s most serious challenger in the world championship, the Brazilian sees these ten points as a great offering, so much so that he certainly received the consent of Jorg Muller to win in this race. The most beautiful spectacle took place behind these two drivers. Gabriele Tarquini, fifth at the start, managed to move up to third position, then putting up a constant fight with Andy Priaulx, fourth, to maintain his position. The Briton even managed, for a few hectometers, to pass in front, before seeing the Italian regain his position. Finally third, Tarquini had a good weekend with two podiums. As for Yvan Muller, who started eighth, he gained a position by overtaking Monteiro, to take the two points for seventh place.

In the championship standings, the Frenchman still occupies the lead. But, in two weekends, he saw Augusto Farfus return to three points. The Brazilian, often in good luck, is now Yvan Muller's most serious challenger. As for the Chevrolets, after four consecutive victories, they disappeared from the points. In Valencia, you have to look beyond tenth place to find any trace of a Cruze. Fortunately for Huff, Larini and Menu, they are expected to lose in handicap at the Czech round in Brno.
