The new GT3 will be entirely designed Maranello by the team led by Ferdinando Cannizzo, responsible for the design and development of the GT racing cars of the Cavanillo Rampante, and will be assembled in the ORECA facilities in Signes (Var) from 2022, before the start of development work which will lead to the car's racing debut. The first track tests are expected for next year.

“It’s a partnership for the next five years, explains Hugues de Chaunac, founder and CEO of ORECA. For us, it's exceptional, because Ferrari is a legend and that they choose a French brand is very strong. We will take care of all the development of the GT3 studied by Ferrari engineers as well as the assembly in October-November, because the premieres are expected at the beginning of 2023. It's a return to the GT scene for us. » ORECA already has a past in GT, notably with the Chrysler Viper GTS-R, triple winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1998, 1999, 2000).

“We know Ferrari’s ability to make a very good GT”

“The ambition is to do the best GT3, continues Hugues de Chaunac. We know Ferrari's ability to make a very good GT, we saw it again this year at the 24 Hours of Spa, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Championship.Endurance. We will bring our experience and our expertise in Endurance, which we have acquired over time. To win a race lasting several hours, you need a lot of things. We know that, among other things, you need a very reliable car. We have gained some experience on this. We have been sharing all this with Ferrari for a few months. »

“The agreement with ORECA is an important starting point for the new GT3 project, said Antonello Coletta, the head of GT sports activities. We have very ambitious goals given that this car will follow in the footsteps of the 488, which was the most successful model in Prancing Horse history. In addition to the competence and know-how of our engineers, we can count on a leading partner like ORECA, which has achieved notable success in the world of endurance; as a result, we look to the future with confidence. » This agreement therefore does not mean the end of the collaboration with Michelotto, the historic partner of the Italian firm, who will still be responsible for the 488.
