FFF Racing opens its European counter in Misano

Lamborghini finally triumphed in the Blancpain GT Series on the Misano circuit, not far from the headquarters of Sant'Agata Bolognese near Bologna, after the success this Saturday evening of the pair Andrea Caldarelli – Marco Mapelli (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo n°563 – FFF Racing).

The start saw Caldarelli, starting from the second row, immediately place the #563 Lamborghini Huracan back in second position by having theAston Martin Vantage n°62 – R-Motorsport by Ricky Collard.

The Italian then quickly joined the leader Charles Weerts (Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo n°2 – Team WRT), and did not wait long to take the advantage after six minutes of racing over the Belgian pole-sitter.

The latter then made a mistake alone after a quarter of an hour, in the very fast final portion of the Italian track, after losing the rear of his n°8 Audi R2 LMS. Full Course Yellow is logically deployed to evacuate the car stuck in the gravel trap.

Mapelli resists Marciello

The driver change window opened shortly after the restart following this neutralization allows Team AKKA-ASP to replace the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°88 of Raffaele Marciello in second position, Vincent Abril having moved up the hierarchy in his first stint.

A little over 22′ from the finish, Markus Winkelhock (Audi R8 LMS GT3 n°26 – Saintéloc Racing) was sent onto the grass, following contact with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°89 – AKKA-ASP of Thomas Neubauer, causing a new Full Course Yellow then the implementation of the safety car.

The race restarted 12′ from the end, with Marco Mapelli in the #563 Lamborghini in the lead ahead of Raffaele Marciello (Mercedes-AMG GT3 #88 – AKKA-ASP) and Maro Engel (Mercedes-AMG GT3 #4 – Black Falcon).

The 100% Italian duel between Mapelli and Marciello will go until the last lap, but the resident of Sant'Agata Bolognese will resist without difficulty, offering a first victory to a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 on the Misano track.

It is also the first victory for FFF Racing on European soil in the Blancpain GT Series, the structure making its debut on the continent after dominating the SRO events in Asia last year.

Marciello – Abril and Stolz – Engel completed the podium ahead of the No. 62 Aston Martin Vantage of Kirchhöfer – Collard.

In the Silver Cup, Thomas Neubauer and Nico Bastian thought they would win but a drive-through for causing the collision with the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT26 ultimately offered category success to Fabian Schiller's No. 90 sister car. and Timur Boguslavskiy, fifth overall.

Andrea Bertolini and Louis Machiels (Ferrari 488 GT3 n°52 – AF Corse) won in Pro-Am while the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°444 – HB Racing of Scholze and Triller dominated the Am Cup.
