Final in Macau

The 2009 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) season will reach its conclusion in the coming days in Macau. A traditional end-of-season meeting since 2005, the Macau urban route is the fastest of the year and has often been the justice of the season. We remember the misfortunes of Yvan Muller (Seat) on the last lap of the race in 2007 but also the first world title won by the French driver last season.

This time, Yvan Muller is in the position of hunter with two points behind the leader of the general classification, his teammate Gabriele Tarquini (Seat). With 115 points against 113, the Italian has a slight advantage over his opponents. A third driver can still worry the two Seat drivers in the person of Augusto Farfus (BMW). The Brazilian is 13 points behind Tarquini but has not said his last word.

Finally, on the Manufacturers' side, nothing is decided here too. Seat is in the lead but only has three points ahead of BMW which hopes to recover the title after letting it slip to the opposing camp in 2008. The first laps will take place on Thursday for tests before qualifying on Friday after -noon. The drivers will then have a day of rest before the grand finale on Sunday.
