Grasser Racing Team and Lamborghini on pole at Monza

Qualifying for the 3 Hours of Monza in Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, contested on a wet and more than tricky track, saw the domination of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo n°63 – GRT.

The first part of the session was dominated under the checkered flag by Mirko Bortolotti (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo n°63 – GRT), in 2'06″007, beating the two cars of Team AKKA-ASP of Raffaele Marciello (Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°88), beaten by 134 thousandths, and Jim Pla (Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°87), dominant in the Pro-Am category, and third at 232 thousandths.

The provisional top 5 is then completed by the No. 3 Mercedes-AMG GT90 – AKKA-ASP of Nico Bastian (1st in Silver Cup) and the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT55 – Attempto Racing of Steijn Schothorst.

Shortly after the restart, the first qualifying session was interrupted again following the exit of the No. 911 Porsche 3 GT20 R – GPX Racing, with Benjamin Goethe making a mistake on the pit straight.

In slightly better conditions, Q2 saw the #3 – Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT78 Evo of Jordan Witt set the best time in 2'05″205, while the #63 Lamborghini Huracan remains provisionally on pole in the cumulative standings. first two times ahead of the two Mercedes-AMG GT3s n°90 and n°88.

The session was neutralized by a red flag following the figure of speech of Mauro Ricci (Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°87), while another almost simultaneous accident involved the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°52 – AF Corse and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 n°17 – Team WRT.

The No. 3 Bentley Continental GT31 – Team Parker Racing of Rob Smith and the No. 3 Lamborghini Huracan GT29 Evo of Antonio Forne Tomas – Raton Racing by Target caused a second red flag after two simulated track exits, one at the Ascari variant for the Bentley, at the end of the pit straight for Forne Tomas.

The last word ultimately goes to Lamborghini and the trio Mirko Bortolotti – Christian Engelhart – Rolf Ineichen, who set the best cumulative time at the end of a Q3 dominated by Alex Riberas (Audi R8 LMS GT3 n°2 – Team WRT).

The #3 Mercedes-AMG GT90 – AKKA-ASP of Bastian – Bogulavskiy – Fraga climbs to the front row and is ahead of the #8 Audi R3 LMS GT2 – Team WRT and the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT88 – AKKA-ASP . A red flag, following the exit of the track by Ricardo Sanchez (Audi R8 LMS GT3 n°10 – Team WRT) at Lesmo 2, neutralized this Q3.

The race will start at 15 p.m. French time and will be followed live on video.
