23 entered in the sprint at Misano

The GT World Challenge Europe has set up its summer quarters in Italy and is feeling good there. After Imola two weeks ago, the paddock arrives in Misano, barely a hundred kilometers further.

The format, however, changes. For the first time, three sprint races will take place during the same weekend to compensate for the transition from five to four meetings.

23 cars will cover the 4,226 kilometers of the Misano circuit. A much smaller contingent than in endurance. Ten crews of two drivers will aim for victory in the general classification, with an over-representation of Audis.

The WRT team, winner at Imola, also enjoyed its only success of 2019 at Misano, thanks to Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts. The inseparable duo has just achieved great success in the ADAC GT Masters and will be lined up again at Misano in the No. 32. The #31 sister car will be entrusted to Ryuichiro Tomita and Kelvin van der Linde, who impressed at Imola.

Poleman two weeks ago, Attempto also enters two Audis in the hands of Frederic Vervisch and Nicolas Schöll for the No. 66 and Mattia Drudi and Tommaso Mosca for the No. 55.

Finally, Saintéloc Racing will be there with a top-notch crew formed by Christopher Haase and Markus Winkelhock.

Mercedes will be represented by reigning team champions AKKA ASP. The French team will be able to count on Raffaele Marciello who remains on five podiums in ten races. He will support silver pilot Timur Boguslavskiy.

Leaders of the ADAC GT Masters championship with Toksport WRT, Maro Engel and Luca Stolz will drive this weekend for new entrant Haupt Racing, in the No. 3 Mercedes-AMG GT4 Evo.

Lamborghini, which won the three drivers' titles last year, will be represented by Emil Frey Racing, the brand's best team at Imola. The team will trust Albert Costa and Giacomo Altoè in the No. 163 and the duo Mikäel Grenier and Norbert Siedler in the No. 14.

Finally, Bentley makes its first appearance in the sprint series since 2017 thanks to CMR, which will field a 100% French crew composed of Jules Gounon and newcomer Nelson Panciatici.

Note the unusual absence in Pro of Porsche and the unsurprising one of Ferrari.

Eight silver and five Pro-Am crews will complete the entry list.
