Antonio Fuoco: “All the drivers did a good job”

What assessment do you draw from this first race of the year?

We really had an excellent car, perfectly balanced. But here at Monza, it remains complicated to overtake on the straights. At the start of the relay, the conditions were not easy, with the track still wet. All the drivers did a good job, especially Callum, for his first. We are satisfied by finishing on the podium in Pro with big points. From now on, we must analyze our race and stay focused for the next round.

You seemed at ease from the first free practices with the best time, not to mention the best lap in the race...

It was indeed a good ride. We obviously didn't know what the others were doing, but for our part, we had found the right balance on the car. We continued this work in the afternoon and all three were satisfied.

What is your point of view on this championship that you discovered last year?

It's impressive. This is my first real season here, since last year, I only competed in one race (7th in the Paul Ricard final with Toni Vilander and Sergey Sirotkin, Editor's note). The level is incredible and we are really all close. It's excellent from the driver's point of view and it forces you to find that little extra tenth to make the difference in qualifying and also in the race.

Was it difficult to adapt to GT and car sharing?

No. Every time we change something on the car, we get the same feedback, which is really important for the team. We know which direction to go. Of course, it's different from the car, because you are alone and everything revolves around you and you can do whatever you want. Here, a compromise must be found.

Have you definitively drawn a line under the single-seater?

I'm focusing on the GT at the moment. I have the chance to run this year with a very complete program (including the WEC with Cetilar in GTE Am and the GT World Challenge Europe, Editor's note). This will be an important year for learning and gaining experience.

Is the idea to show off before Ferrari's Hypercar program gets underway?

Of course, being in GT is a good thing. But I think it's a little early to talk about this project. If I do a good job, I might get my chance. I want to focus on the current program first
