- Alessandro Pier Guidi and Alessio Rovera are the new champions ofEndurance Cup in GT World Challenge Europe! The two Italians secured the title on Saturday night in Saudi Arabia, for the first of the GTWCE in Jeddah. On the Corniche circuit, the two teammates – supported by Davide Rigon this weekend – finished in third place in the 6-hour race, despite numerous setbacks (30-second penalty for repeatedly exceeding track limits, interference in the pits with the sister car from AF Corse).
- La Ferrari AF Corse n°51 – which started from pole position – nevertheless managed to come back at the end of the race thanks to a final Safety Car to finish on the podium and clinch the Endurance championship title ahead of the crew ofAston Martin Comtoyou Racing n°7 (Mattia Drudi, Marco Sorensen and Nicki Thiim), only 10th at the finish after receiving a 30-second penalty, again for repeated exceeding of track limits.
- This last race of the 2024 season was won by the Mercedes Team Mann Filter #48 of Maro Engel, Lucas Auer and Daniel Morad. The trio dominated the second half of the race after taking the lead at the halfway point and managed their lead perfectly until the finish, despite a late Safety Car in the final hour. With this victory, Maro Engel and Lucas Auer also won the combined Sprint and Endurance classification in GTWCE.
- Second place went to Franck Perera, Jordan Pepper and Marco Mapelli in the #163 GRT Lamborghini. The trio were also in contention for the Endurance Cup Drivers and Teams title but this podium place was not enough for them to secure a title that already seemed very difficult to obtain before this weekend. The two Team WRT BMWs completed the top five, with the #5 ahead of the #32 of Valentino Rossi.
- The disappointment of the weekend was the fault of the #99 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi. Christopher Haase, Alex Aka and Ricardo Feller believed in the title for a long time and were even in a position to secure it during the race, but a penalty for a pit stop violation dashed their hopes of victory. The trio had to settle for 6th place at the finish and 3rd place in the Endurance Cup.
- The race was marked by a spectacular collision between Nicolo Rosi in the Kessel Racing Ferrari #8 and Arthur Rougier in the CSA Racing Audi #111 at turn 22, forcing the stewards to deploy the Safety Car for around thirty minutes. The Frenchman, conscious, was taken to the medical centre for tests, before indicating on Instagram that he was fine despite a damaged vertebra.
Here's the incident that caused the race to be neutralized. We're now green again.
