Emil Frey doubles the stakes in Barcelona

Who can stop Emil Frey's fantastic comeback? The Lamborghini driven by Giacomo Altoè and Albert Costa has just won its third race in a row, including the Zandvoort weekend. The crew led race 2 in Barcelona from start to finish without encountering resistance.

Behind her, we witnessed a superb start from Maro Engel with the Mercedes HRT which moved from fifth to second place. At the same time, a collision between the Atttempto Racing Audi of Mattia Drudi and the Mercedes of Raffaele Marciello put the Audi out of the race.

A few turns later, Mikaël Grenier in Emil Frey's second car came to harpoon the Ferrari Tempesta Racing, which was still able to secure the victory and the title in the Pro-AM category thanks to Eddie Cheever and Chris Froggatt. The Canadian, for his part, suffered a drive through. The faults are not completely erased in Emil Frey.

Just before the refueling window opened, Maro Engel had to let Frédéric Vervisch pass for second position. An important maneuver for the title, from which HRT seems distant with a start from eleventh place during the third race.

In the end, Albert Costa and Giacomo Altoè won ahead of the Attempto Racing Audi of Frédéric Vervisch and Nicolas Schöll and the Mercedes HRT of Luca Stolz and Maro Engel.

Championship leaders, Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts finished in fourth position ahead of the Mercedes AKKA-ASP of Raffaele Marciello-Timur Boguslavskiy and the Audi WRT of Ryuichiro Tomita and Kelvin Van der Linde.

In Silver, Jim Pla and Benjamin Hites won at the wheel of the AKKA-ASP but it was Steven Palette and Simon Gachet who took the title in the Saintéloc Racing Audi.

In the championship, nothing is decided. Four crews stand in seven points. Vanthoor-Weerts leads with 72,5 units, three points ahead of Stol-Engel, 3,5 ahead of Costa-Altoè and 7 ahead of Timur Boguslavskiy. Race 3 should therefore be exciting. The start will be given at 16:30 p.m.

The complete ranking.
