Gachet takes a 2nd pole at Magny-Cours, Top 3 for Audi

Simon Gachet definitely likes Magny-Cours. Two after his first pole position in a Sprint Race on the French track, the driver of the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT11 from Tresor by Car Collection did it again in Nièvre by dominating qualifying for Race 1.

It was with a lap of 1'36"322 recorded in his penultimate attempt that Simon Gachet was able to gain the upper hand over his counterparts. On the line, the Frenchman beat the No. 32 Team WRT Audi driven by Charles Weerts by almost 2 tenths. Gilles Magnus (Saintéloc) completed the Top 3 to take pole in the Silver category and allow the German manufacturer to monopolize the first places on the grid.

One time at the head of the Silver category, Pierre Alexandre Jean (Ferrari 488 GT3 N°53 – AF Corse) was finally overtaken by the Belgian settling for 4^e place under the checkerboard. The Top 5 is completed by another Silver with Thomas Drouet on the Mercedes AMG GT3 No. 87 from Akkodis ASP.

Rossi at fault

For its official premiere in Magny-Cours, Valentino Rossi would have liked to have seen a better result. Vegetating around the 15^e less than 10 minutes from the end of the session, the Italian ultimately did not finish it.

Too aggressive on his flying lap, the driver of the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT46 of Team WRT lost control at the entrance to Estoril and ended his race in the gravel trap after hitting the tire wall. Forced to end his qualifications, Valentino Rossi ranked 22^e.
