In this 2024 season, Comtoyou Racing is entering into a long-term partnership with Aston Martin Racing. This Wednesday, February 21, the Belgian team presented its Aston Martin Vantage GT3 for the first time. This first official outing was very symbolic: by displaying its car as part of the launch of the centenary edition of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, the Belgian team also announced that it would aim for the leading roles in the Belgian classic, scheduled from June 26 to 30.

« The team has been carrying out testing for several weeks now to get to know this new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 better., smiles Jean-Michel Baert, the Team Principal present at Stavelot Abbey to participate in this launch. But we are particularly happy to have been able to present it for the first time in public. As a Belgian team, it is clear that the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa was one of our motivations for entering GT. Being able to be at the start of the centenary edition with Aston Martin is a source of pride. Knowing that we are going to do it with such a prestigious crew and fully capable of aiming for victory further strengthens our motivation! »

We will still have to wait a few weeks before knowing all the drivers representing Comtoyou Racing. “ We are still in discussions to complete our crews, confirms François Verbist, the Team Manager. “ We have a lot of contact and we are still open to last minute discussions. The objective is clear: to compose the most efficient crews possible while also taking into account the constraints encountered by a team like ours. » The partnership between the Gaydon brand and the Belgian team will result in a trio of high-level official drivers.

The Dane Train reformed at Comtoyou Racing

World ChampionsEndurance FIA WEC in GTE Pro with Aston Martin, the Danes Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen will once again be associated. They will team up with new official driver Mattia Drudi, champion last year in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup.

On the podium of the 24 Hours of Spa in 2021 and 2023, Nicki Thiim intends to aim for victory this year. “ Unlike my previous appearances, Spa will not be a one-off event as we will take part in all five Endurance Cup races., confirms the 34-year-old Dane. I am delighted to compete in this championship which is undoubtedly the toughest in the world of GT3 racing with many crews made up of official drivers. I feel enormous motivation within the Comtoyou Racing team and I am looking forward to starting the season with them. »

Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen, nicknamed the 'Dane Train', won the WEC's GTE Pro class together in 2016 and 2020, in addition to their Spa podium in 2021. Since then, Marco has added a GTE Am world crown to his prize list in 2022, punctuated by a class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This time, it’s the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa that the 33-year-old driver hopes to add to his list.

The Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe will begin with a 3-hour race at Circuit Paul Ricard from April 5-7. The Endurance Cup will then continue with the centenary CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa (June 26-30). The Nürburgring (July 26-28), Monza (September 20-22) and the 6 Hours of Jeddah (November 21-23) complete the program.
