GT World Challenge Europe competitors Endurance Cup were to be early on this Sunday, September 5. From 8:25 a.m., the GT3s roared onto the Nürburgring circuit (Germany) to determine the order of the starting grid for the three-hour race.
As for the Italian drivers of the Orange 1 FFF Racing Team, we certainly took advantage of the know-how of the master roasters to be awakened. The trio of Andrea Caldarelli, Mirko Bortolotti and Marco Mapelli (Lamborghini) increased the pace during Q3 to take a remarkable pole position.
Extremely consistent in 2021 in the Endurance Cup, the crew has never done worse than a second time in testing for the 24 Hours of Spa and is already on their third pole of the year!
“We worked a lot on race pace. My teammates did a great job, we showed what we were capable of” said Marco Mapelli.
However, it was just a matter of time before the trans partyalpine be spoiled by a French neighbor. Jules Gounon (Mercedes) fails at only 45 thousandths with his teammates Felipe Fraga and Raffaele Marciello. There Porsche GPX Racing's 911 GT3 R in Martini colors (Campbell-Bamber-Jaminet) set the third time.
Gounon puts the #88 Mercedes second on the grid, but it's Caldarelli in the #63 Lambo as it stands.
